Is it Monday Already?

Wow, the weekend sure did go by quickly. But not only that... How is it already July? To start off the work week for some of my office friends, I have on a beautiful peplum top with a lace skirt. Now initially, I thought "Lace and Peplum?" I had never tried that combo before. But now I find this to be one of my favorite outfits to put on. The beautiful part about it, is that it can be worn to work, to events, and even while grabbing a bite to eat at your favorite restaurant. I absolutely love hanging out around Georgetown, DC. There are so many cute and quirky restaurants and cafes. Plus, it's fun to dress up a bit and have a fun day/evening out in town.

Fun fact of the day: The word "peplum" is actually derived from "peplos". Peplos was a Greek fashion style worn around 500 BC.

Weekend Fun

A simple black fit never felt so right! And the best part about this outfit is the price. Recently I've noticed a massive trend with off the shoulder tops, blouses and dresses. I find this trend absolutely dazzling. It's simple, elegant and still modest. The top that I'm seen wearing can be worn in a few variations. Here I have it pulled down to the corner of my shoulder but not quite all the way off the shoulder. It can also be worn fully off the shoulder and even completely on the shoulder. Now, I mentioned earlier how cheap this outfit was. To be specific, the top was $17.99. Considering the material, I find this price reasonable. The skirt, however, is where things get interesting. I recently made a surprise visit to Ross (first time in a while) and rediscovered my love for that place as I found this skirt to be $9. The lightweight material keeps it comfortable, yet the beautiful print allows you to dress it up. An added bonus was that it was made in India and I just so happen to be learning the language spoken there, Hindi. The shoes I'm wearing are probably as old as my blog so they may be hard to find. But seeing that the strap heels are in style, you will have no problem finding a pair. I believe I purchased them from ASOS. To top off the outfit, I have my staple Kate Spade bag. Absolutely love that thing!

Fri-YAY!

Nothing screams Fri-YAY more than a pop of color and floral print. I find the simplicity of just pairing a nude-colored top, heels and bag with a vibrant colorful skirt just absolutely ravishing. Not to mention how easy it is to pair. A little side story to this skirt.. I bought it at H&M when it first arrived (for full price mind you). Of course, when I see something I know I'll regret not buying.. I have to have it. No matter the cost. It's a habit I'm trying to break. But after purchasing it I felt delighted. I already had an event in mind to wear it to and could just picture the variety of outfits I could use it to put together. Little did I know that many others (particularly in my area) were also thinking the same exact thing. I saw this skirt at least four different times within just a few months of having it. Not to mention, a very good friend of mine also had the same exact skirt. Moral of the story... don't buy things when they first arrive in stores because you'll most likely find someone else with the same exact clothing item. Okay, well maybe it's okay to purchase something when they first come out. I guess it just depends on where it is.

Another interesting part about this outfit is that the "top" you see there is actually a dress. A little trick I love doing, especially when I can't find a matching blouse to an a-line skirt, is pair it with a fitted dress. It gives off the same look as it would with a blouse. However, I find that I receive way more compliments when I use this trick. Try it and comment below how you like it!

*Disclaimer: I am not typically one to care if others have the same items as me. In fact, I love sharing where I purchase my clothes from. I just found the story absolutely hilarious. I've never seen a clothing item of mines on so many other people before. I'm not kidding when I say floral and a pop of color makes for an eye-catching piece.

Let's Get Casual!

Top: Loft | Jeans: H&M | Shoes: ASOS | Necklace: J CREW | Hat: Target | Jacket: Thrifted (Zara)

So, not only did I want to throw it back a bit, but I also wanted to go a bit casual  today. I absolutely love the casualty of this outfit yet the necklace and shoes dresses it up a bit. This is a great outfit for a night out with your friends or even a special event. Unfortunately, I was not able to take a picture with the jacket on but it was a great thrifted find that I cannot pin point what season it came out.

Professional Mondays

Top: TJ Maxx | Skirt: Loft | Shoes: New Look (Asos) | Bag: Kate Spade Outlet

Mondays are typically hard for me to even really think straight. If you're just like me and have difficulty thinking straight on those mornings, I suggest going for a simple top and skirt combo like this one. The colors are perfect for either the summer to fall transition or even spring. I don't work in an office setting, but oddly enough, I tend to lean towards a more professional look when I dress up. Here's a great example of that!

An Odd Pair?

                          Top: H&M | Blazer: H&M | Skirt: Zara | Shoes: Franco Sarto (Macy's) | Necklace: J Crew

I never thought the combination of navy blue and red would be as stunning as I find it is. This outfit began without the blazer, however because of the wind chill, I thought I'd put a blazer over it. Boy, was it a great idea! Not only does it keep me warm, but it's also very stylish and modest. PS, If you couldn't already tell, my favorite stores are H&M, Zara and J Crew, so you'll be seeing a lot of their items in my blogs. I just love not only the modesty in most of their items but also the quality as well.

Spring Time Weather!

Top: TJ Maxx | Skirt: J Crew | Shoes: New Look (Asos) | Necklace: J Crew

Lately, I've been loving brighter skirts! It's almost as if they have a pattern of their own. This outfit absolutely embraces the summer time while keeping it appropriate for the spring time. I've been so surprised being able to walk out of my house with short sleeves on. It seems like just last week it was brisk, windy and cold! I'm not complaining though. I absolutely love the weather... and so does my wardrobe.
